Tesco Personal Finance - Open your eyes and save money
I didn’t realise that Tesco had so many financial products until I opened an ISA account with them.
To be quite honest I just looked on it as a supermarket that had a pretty good petrol station in the car park.
You can apply for a loan to buy a car or to improve your home, even for that long over due holiday.
The rates are quite competitive compared to the high street banks. For a £2000 loan you pay 9.6% and only 8.2% if you borrow £5000.
Payment protection cover is pretty standard rate but I think it is wise to get cover on any loan you never know what is around the corner and it gives you peace of mind.
They even offer credit cards at a low rate, I am thinking of transferring my current credit card over to them it would save me quite a few quid a month at 6.2% for all debts transferred.
They give one Club Card Point for every £2.00p you spend on the card so that is an additional saving.
Savings accounts with Tesco? Who would have thought it? And you get a cash card for easy access to your money.
Online banking facilities and the cash pay-in at any Tesco Store is a handy way to save money.
How many times have you done your weekly shop and had twenty quid spare? You say to yourself that you will put it in your savings account when you go to the bank but never do. You can do it straight away while you have the crisp note in your hand, saves it being spent down the pub before the banks open doesn’t it?
ISA accounts: to save tax on your savings.
Life Insurance: from 20p a day.
Motor Insurance: with a 24 hour help line and breakdown assistance an optional extra.
Home Insurance: This can be for contents or building and contents. Also they offer up to £25 if your current insurance company charges you to switch insurers.
Travel Insurance: There has been a lot of talk about travel agents charging the earth for holiday insurance just lately, Tesco offer a good deal on a single trip or an annual rate if you travel quite frequently. If you are into sporty activities they can cover you for this as well.
Foreign exchange: for money and travellers cheques delivered within twenty four hours to your home and just five pounds charge for the transaction to cover postage, package and insurance.
And finally; this is the best and surprised me: Pet insurance from £4 a month for a cat and £7 for a dog.
Tesco seem to have the personal finance all wrapped up. It is well worth looking at some of these. I think the credit card rates are really good, and the pet insurance is reasonable.
